![]() Paramount thought it had a bomb on its hands, but the thriller fared well enough at the box office to warrant a sequel. And it underwent quite a few reshoots before hitting theaters. The original World War Z movie, which was based on Max Brooks zombie survival guide of the same name, was faced with quite a few problems of its own during production. The Hollywood Reporter doesn't give a definite reason for this halt in production on World War Z 2. News of World War Z 2's inevitable delay comes just as Paramount Pictures canceled their Friday the 13th remake, which would have been the landmark 13th movie in that horror film franchise. While a delay in the release date was expected, it now sounds like this movie might be dead altogether. As there have been no true production updates in quite some time, and shooting would have had to have already started, it should come as no surprise that World War Z 2 has been yanked from Paramount's impending release schedule. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Purely on their surface, the stories’ location in a small, charming, even idyllic (if you discount the high percentage of deaths and murders, of course) village might lead you to that conclusion. I read a comment recently by someone who considers Penny’s books to be ‘cozy’ mysteries. How do we discern when to trust that instinct and when it needs careful evaluation? How do our emotions impact our judgment? In the course of the narrative, Penny explores the extent to which intuition can be trusted, especially by those who (like Gamache and Beauvoir) depend on intuition to succeed and even to survive. ![]() A mysterious painting appears – magically? – in Three Pines and deciphering the puzzle in turn opens up questions about one of the first cases on which Gamache and his long-time associate (now son-in-law) Jean-Guy Beauvoir collaborated. The latest novel places a new mystery in the context of an old one. It’s a heady time, indeed, to be a fan of Louise Penny’s series of Armand Gamache novels – a new installment in the series (“A World of Curiosities,” released last November), a television adaptation of the series (“Three Pines,” which debuted on Amazon Prime in December), and a tribute to the books in the form of Ernesto Cervini’s latest album, “Joy,” which dropped last fall. ![]() ![]() In her attempt to add intrigue, Balliett only created confusion. Verdict: A good ghost story with a passionate premise, but Balliett doesn’t deliver her vision to the reader. It was still rough going and I still have questions. Once I got to the end of the book this made more sense and I reread the beginning with my new found understanding. I often questioned what was happening to the individual at the time in the story. Additionally, I had a problem with perspective. I experienced mild anger and then moved on. The premise of the novel is pretty passionate, but the novel doesn’t deliver a passionate message. The Spanish medievalist Ramón Menéndez Pidal included the Cantar de mio Cid in the popular tradition he termed the mester de juglaría. The work survives in a medieval manuscript which is now in the Spanish National Library. It is considered a national epic of Spain. Based on a true story, it tells of the deeds of the Castilian hero Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar-known as El Cid-and takes place during the eleventh century, an era of conflicts in the Iberian Peninsula between the Kingdom of Castile and various Taifa principalities of Al-Andalus. 'The Song of my Cid', or 'The Song of my Sidi ('lord')'), or El Poema de mio Cid, also known in English as The Poem of the Cid, is the oldest preserved Castilian epic poem ( Spanish: epopeya).
